Donald Clark Obituary

St. Petersburg, FL Donald D. Clark, 87, of St. Petersburg, FL, formerly of Plympton, MA, passed away Wednesday, July 16 in St. Petersburg, FL after a brief illness. He was born in 1921 in Quincy, the son of the late Donald and Elma Clark of Braintree. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise, his high school sweetheart, whom he married in 1943 and with whom he enjoyed 61 years of marriage until Louise's death in 2004. He is survived by their five children, Donald Clark and Robert Clark, both of Port Orange, FL, David Clark of Plymouth, Janet Clark Brooks of Tucson, AZ and Barbara Clark Edgarian of Carlsbad, CA. He leaves 6 grandchildren, Laura Fiore, Donald Clark IV, D. Jacob Clark, Heather Clark, Anthony Clark and Casey Edgarian and 5 great-grandchildren, Anthony, Dominic and Maria Fiore and Donald and Emily Clark. He also leaves behind his beloved sister, Phyllis Libby of Braintree. Donald graduated from Braintree High School, joined the National Guard in 1940 and enlisted in the Navy on December 8, 1941, serving during WWII on the USS Duncan as a Torpedoman's Mate, First Class. He moved his family from Braintree to Plympton in 1959, where he lived until moving to St. Petersburg in 1997. He held numerous jobs throughout his life, including working at Hood Milk Co. as a milkman, at the Fore River Shipyard as a steel worker, and at Automobile Transport as a truck driver, among many others. He retired from Automobile Transport, Inc., as a Superintendent of Terminal Operations in Dedham and Ayer. He loved small town life in Plympton and served on the Board of Selectmen for 2 terms. He was also a member of the Upland Sportmans Club of Plympton, and he was a member of Delta Lodge A.F. & A.M., Elks Lodge, American Legion, Amvets, VFW and the Eagles. He and Louise loved living near the ocean and enjoyed countless days together on the beaches of New England, Cape Cod and St. Petersburg, FL. A Funeral Service will be held at the Plympton Congregational Church on Main St. in Plympton on August 2 at 10 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at the Plympton Cemetery, where his remains will be laid to rest next to those of his loving wife, Louise. Forever loved and remembered.
