John J. Coggins

Braintree John J. Jack Coggins, of Braintree and Quincy died on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Newton Healthcare Center at age 83. Jack was born and raised in Jamaica Plain and lived in Braintree for many years before moving to Quincy several years ago. He worked for Retail Stores Corp. in Boston as a driver for many years. Mr. Coggins was a Navy Veteran and served in the Pacific Theatre during World War Two . Mr. Coggins was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars James Richardson Post in Hull. Beloved husband for 61 years to Rita M. (McCarthy) Coggins. Devoted father of John J. Jr. of Hull, Linda Salls of Orlando, Fla, the late Richard, Steven and Robert Coggins. Beloved brother of Marie Lamb of Roslindale, Alfred Coggins of Amarillo,Texas, James of Florida, Anna Crump of Dedham, the late Eileen Stanishlawzyk, Lorraine Kiernan, and Helen Ercolano. Loving grandfather of Eric, Kristen and Adam. Also survived by 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral from the Clancy-Lucid Funeral Home, 100 Washington ST. Weymouth landing on Saturday, July 26 at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass in the Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours on Friday, from 6 until 9:30 p.m. Burial on Monday at the Mass National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:45 p.m.
