G. Neilson Obituary

Readfield, ME G. Helen (Miller) Neilson, 85 of the Winthrop Road, died Thursday July 24, 2008 at the Hospice House in Auburn after a short illness. She was born in Weymouth, MA. on January 6, 1923, the daughter of Warren and Emily (Roy) Miller. Helen graduated from Weymouth High School. She had worked as a legal secretary for Murdock and Jacobs; was a traffic supervisor for the Town of Weymouth, and retired as an executive secretary from the Town of Weymouth school department. In 1986 she moved to Maine. Helen did some substitute teaching at Winthrop High School and also worked as executive secretary for the Western Area Agency on Aging in Lewiston. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Winthrop. She was predeceased by her first husband Anthony DAngelo, a son David DAngelo, a brother in law Leo DiAngelo and a sister Beatrice June. She is survived by her husband Ronald W. Neilson of Readfield; a son John DAngelo and his wife Lamai DAngelo of Colorado; a daughter-in-law Alicia (Reynolds) DAngelo of Readfield; stepdaughter Nancy (Neilson) Connor and her husband William Connor of New Hampshire; a sister Frances Haaze and her husband William Haaze of California; sister-in-law Ester DiAngelo of Weymouth, MA.; 5 grandchildren Anthony and Christopher of Colorado and Anthony, Elizabeth and Nicole of Readfield; 3 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours were held Sunday, July 27 from 4-8 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Winthrop, with Rev. Brian Blanchette, Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice House, 236 Stetson Road, Auburn. 04210. www.khrfineralhomes.com

Ron, Alicia, and Family,
I was so sorry to hear about Helen. She was a wonderful person and I have very font memories of you all coming into my class room at Readfield. May God watch over you all. My thought and prayers will be with you all at this time.

Ron and Family,
I was very sorry to hear about Helen’s passing. Although I did not know her well, I felt that I could call her “friend”. I will miss chatting with her after 4:00 PM Mass. Each of you and Helen are in my prayers.
