David Donahue Obituary

Trumbull, CT David Cairns Donahue of Trumbull, CT died Sunday, July 27, 2008, following an extended illness. Born on November 30, 1926, he was raised in Jamaica Plain, MA. A World War II U.S. Navy veteran; David returned from military service to attend Dartmouth College, graduating in 1950. David worked in the textile industry, where he owned and operated Trumbull Textiles. He was a former member of Brooklawn Country Club, and a member of The Gaelic American Club of Fairfield. David was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Gwendolyn "Pat" Donahue on May 4, 1997. He is survived by his daughter Kim and her husband Mark Spano of Harrison, NY, a son Scott Donahue of Redding, CT, three grandsons; David, Kevin and Scott Donahue, of Redding, CT, a brother Douglas A. Donahue and his wife Dorothy of Norwell, MA. Friends may attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 9:00am in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main Street, Trumbull, CT. Interment and prayers will take place Thursday at 2pm in North Falmouth Cemetery, Old Main Road, North Falmouth, MA. Friends may call Wednesday 5-8pm at the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull, CT. In lieu of flowers the family requests that those that so desire make a donation to The Make A Wish Foundation of Connecticut, 126 Monroe Turnpike, Trumbull, CT. I was lucky enough to know Mr. Donahue at one time. He was a friend of a friend and I joined them for lunch and cocktails in Fairfield many times. I had more laughs with David! And I was also lucky enough to see him not so long ago. What a great guy! My thoughts are with the family.
