Plymouth Maria ''Lucy'' (Medeiros) Tavares of Plymouth, July 31st, beloved wife of the late William M. Tavares. Loving mother of Steven Tavares and his wife Beverly of Plymouth. Grandmother of Susan Theberge, Joan Salvas and Lori Zito. Great-grandmother of John, Michael, Andrea Bastoni and Brian and Jaime Zito. Born in St. Michels the Azores on March 5, 1911, a daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria (Sylvia) Medeiros. She came to the US as a young girl and graduated from Durfee High School in Fall River. She was a nurses aide at Camp Edwards during WWII, worked in the Plymouth Cordage Co. for several years and later was employed at the Newfield House. She loved to play Bingo and was an avid Red Sox fan. Funeral from the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St. Plymouth on Monday at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Plymouth at 10:00 a.m. Visiting prior to mass.
