Mary Gardiner Obituary

Quincy Mary R. (Ceriani) Gardiner of Quincy died on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at age 91. Born in Quincy where she was raised and educated, a graduate from Quincy High School, she lived here all her life. For over 30 years, she worked as a cafeteria aide at Lincoln Hancock School, which she enjoyed so much that she only retired when her health started to fail. She was also a member of the Sons of Italy. The loving wife of the late David D. Gardiner, Mary is the beloved mother of David L. and William G. Gardiner, both of Quincy and Gail Alden of Halifax and the sister of Alma Ceriani of Quincy and the late Celestina R. Sawtelle. She is the dear grandmother of David, Daniel and Denise Gardiner and Scott Alden and great-grandmother of Alexis and David James and aunt of Denise Craig of Weymouth. Her funeral will be from the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home, 74 Elm St., Quincy Center on Wednesday, August 6 at 9:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, West Quincy at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial is in Mount Wollaston Cemetery. Donations in Mary's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
