Robert Carr Obituary

Norwell Robert Emmy Carr, age 90, died Friday, August 1, 2008 after a period of declining health at the Norwell Knoll. Mr. Carr was born in Boston and graduated from Milton High School and was a longtime resident of Norwell. He served as a Bombardier on a B-17 in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. Robert owned a wholesale flower business for many years in the Boston Flower Exchange, where he also served on the Board of Directors. Mr. Carr enjoyed summering in Humarock. Robert is the husband of the late Mildred (Pallamary) and the father of the late Ronald Carr and late Lynda Carr. Mr. Carr is survived by a son, Robert E. Jr. and his wife, Diane of Plymouth and his grandchildren, Steven E. of Norwell, Laura M. of Brewster, Sean P. of Plymouth, Michael R. of Plymouth, and Ashley R. of Plymouth. Also survived by 5 great-grandchildren. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m. at the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central St. (off Rt. 123, near State Police Barracks), Norwell Center. Relatives and Friends Invited. A Private Funeral Service will be held Wednesday for the Family. Mr. Carr,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the U.S. Army Air Forces during WW II as a B-17 "Flying Fortress" crewman and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

I knew Bob years ago, when I was just learning the floral design business. Thanks to him I learned about all kinds of different flowers. Each week he would bring a new one for me to learn about and use in designs. I was working for Plymouth Florist in Manomet at the time.
He was a gentleman and a great person.
