Daniel Carleton Obituary

Weymouth Daniel A. Carleton, 85 years of age, of Weymouth, died at the Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge on Tuesday. He was born in Cambridge and had resided in Weymouth for most of his life. He graduated from Sangerville, Maine High school and from Northeastern University in Boston. He served in the United States Army during World War II from January 1943 to December 1945. Daniel was a former manager for the Quincy Oil Company before being afflicted with cancer. He was with Quincy Oil Company for twenty five years. More recently he was employed by Filenes Store from 1988 to 2004. He was an expert at making afghans and made one which was presented to Cardinal Bernard Law. He gave many afghans to his neighbors and friends. He was a former resident of the Hill Street area in East Weymouth and more recently was a resident of Union Towers where he was a member of the Union Towers Association. He was a lover of dogs and had a Pug who was a constant companion. He is survived by two nephews: Joseph Miner of Cambridge and Barry Carleton of Sangerville, Maine; four nieces: Rita Waterhouse of Sangerville, Maine, Sheryl OConnor of Greenville, Maine, Janice Carle of Sangerville, Maine, and Barbara Haskell of Dexter, Maine. The services will be private. Burial will be in Sangerville, Maine. Arrangements are by the Mortimer N. Peck Russell Peck Funeral Home 870 Broad Street, EAST WEYMOUTH. Memorial donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.

Mr. Carleton,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Army during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
