This is what I was to say at dad's funeral but just couldn't:

It didn’t take me long to think up things to say about my dad.
The problem is, I could keep you here all day talking about him.

Bud,Harvey,Grampy. He went by many names and each one of them meant something different to the person who spoke it.
To my sisters, brothers and I, he is dad.
A man to be proud of, A kind man, A gentle man. A stubborn man; a trait still abundantly evident in his children(that is a good thing). He was also a really funny man. My dad could always make me laugh. I remember he would spontaneously sing and dance and it tickled my funny bone even as a child. He led a good hard life, but still found time for life’s little pleasures: hotdogs and ice cream , Sunning at the beach, Swimming, Boating, Gardening, And bit of carpentry; a real handyman, that was my dad too.
I’ll bet each one of you can tell a story or two about your time with
Harvey and no doubt each one would be revealing and touching.

I’d like to close with a poem I wrote for my Dad right after his accident. It meant a lot to me then and feels very appropriate now.

MISSING YOU:

Missing the way you smiled at me
Missing the way our life used to be

Missing the way you held my hand
Missing all the ways you tried to understand

Missing silly songs you used to sing
Missing the happiness you seemed to bring

Missing all the little things you used to do But more than that Dad, I’m missing you

I love you, always and forever.

To Bud, Julie and extended family, Thank you for making my day easier. Your presence made coming to work a pleasure. You know I love you. I will miss you dearly. My pleasant memories of the hospital will always be surrounded by the two of you. My opportunity to help Bud while he was there was very heartfelt Julie. And if you would like to email me feel free to do so. Your alls friendship was a gift from God and I am so happy that He Crossed our paths. May God Bless you all and I'm sorry for your loss. Always.

Farewell to my dear brother-in-law. May you now be in a place of peace and serenity. Today I went through the photos of my wedding in 1955 in So. Weymouth at the house that you and Dottie lived in; and there you were with that wonderful smile and twinkling eyes. You were a special person in so many ways.

I'm saddened to hear of the passing of Harvey. He was a great guy and was a tremendous influence on my young life. He was like a second dad to me in many ways. When we worked together I was upset when he left King Optical to work up at Sears in Burlington. He was tough but always fair. We will all miss him.

Julie, I am so sad to hear that your dad passed away. I was thinking that I haven't kept in touch recently and was also thinking of him and hoping he was well. He is someone I knew all my life even before you all became family and he was a super guy. He knew how to make you smile. He will be missed. Please take care
