Joseph Sussky Obituary

Weymouth Joseph J. Sussky, age 89, died on Monday, August 11 at the Colonial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Weymouth. Born and raised in Carbondale, Penn, he lived in Weymouth for many years. Mr. Sussky was a WWII and Korean War Veteran. He joined the U.S. Army after being orphaned when he was 16. He served with the First Infantry Division in North Africa, Sicily, the Normandy invision of France at Omaha Beach and Germany and also with the Big Red One in Korea. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer after twenty years of service. After his retirement, Joseph worked for the City of Boston as a concrete inspector. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. Beloved husband of the late Maria E. (Stevens). Devoted father of Michael J. Sussky and his companion Maureen Peacock of Hingham. Loving grandfather of Katie Sussky and Elizabeth Sussky. Also survived by his sister Sophia of Penn. and several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Clancy-Lucy Funeral Home, 100 Washington St., Weymouth landing on Thursday, August 14 at 8:30 a.m. Funeral Mass in the Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. Burial in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Weymouth.

Mr. Sussky,Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Army-especially during WW II(with the Big Red One) and the Korean War. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
