David A. Mayers Jr.

Norwell David A. Mayers, Jr., of Norwell, age 80, died Thursday August 14, 2008. Mr. Mayers, a retired engineer, was a graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology and the owner of David A. Mayers Realty for forty years. David was very active in Norwell town government having served on the Board of Selectman and the Advisory Board, as well as serving as Town Registrar. Mr. Mayers was also a former commissioner of the Massachusetts Real Estate Board and was President of Board of Directors for the South Shore Housing Development Corporation. David was the beloved husband for 55 years of Elvoid C. (Baskins) and the devoted father of Joanne Mayers-Walker and her husband, John of Alexandria, VA, David A. Mayers, III and his wife Barbara of Washington, DC., Damon A. Mayers and his wife Lynn Bowman of Norwell, and Darryl A. Mayers and his wife Juliette of Norwell. David was the loving brother of Vera Amis of Boston, Juanita Goode of Arlington, and the late Elouise Clarke. Mr. Mayers was the loving grandfather of Omari, Attallah, Ayaan, David A. IV, Dyani, Aaron, Conor, DAnna, and Danielle. Visiting hours are on Monday, August 18, from 4-8 p.m. at the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central St. (off Rt. 123, near State Police Barracks), Norwell Center. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August 19 at 11 a.m. at the First Parish Unitarian Church, 24 River St., Norwell.
