Doris M. Sunnerberg

Quincy Doris M. (Pierce) Sunnerberg, passed away at the South Shore Hospital on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at age 88. A homemaker, she was born in Rockland, Maine, spent her childhood on a farm. She then moved to Quincy, where she lived for 55 years. She worked at the Patriot Ledger in the circulation dept. and in the "coin room." An avid bowler, she belonged to teams at Merrymount Bowling Alley including The Queen Pins, Women Merchants, Coffee Royals and the Merry Bells. Doris enjoyed cooking and baking, poker and Pokeno, travelling and loved spending time with her 18 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. The beloved wife of the late Harry Everett Sunnerberg, she is the beloved mother of Beverly M. Sullivan and her husband Robert J. of Scituate, Dorothy L. Connolly and her husband Robert J. of Norwell, Arlene A. Platteel and her husband Adrian F. and Kenneth A. Sunnerberg and his wife Annie, all of Weymouth and the late Larry E. Sunnerberg. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Pat Callanan of NH and many nieces and nephews, and is the beloved Nana of Donald, Steven, Eric and Alan Sunnerberg, Diane Forest, Lori Hurley, Linda O'Donnell, Karen Kelley, Peter, Bill, Mike and Jim Platteel, Cheri Farley, Joanne Goughan, Cindy Suby, Julie Connolly and Ken and Christine Sunnerberg. Her funeral will be from the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home, 74 Elm St., Quincy Center on Monday, August 18 at 11:00 a.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 40 West St., Weymouth at 12:00 noon. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Burial is in Mount Wollaston Cemetery.
