Walter Briscoe Obituary

Duxbury Walter E. Briscoe of Duxbury and formerly of Weymouth, died on August 17, 2008. He was 85 years old. Mr. Briscoe is one of 13 children and was born, raised and educated in Randolph. He is a graduate of Randolph High School. Following his graduation from high school, Mr. Briscoe enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during WW II. He is a recipient of the Purple Heart. Following his honorable discharge from the Army he went on to work as a manager at the Rennie Curtain factory in Boston. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias. Mr. Briscoe was a very active member of the Weymouth Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He loved to travel and enjoyed the outdoors. He also loved to spend time with his family. Loving husband of Marilyn Briscoe. Father of Eric Briscoe and his wife Diane of Abington, Leslie Clarke and her husband Jonathan of Duxbury and the late Lynne Wisneski and her husband Frank of Duxbury. Brother of Mabel Briscoe of Abington, Betty Theriault of Stoughton, Beverly Robinson of Berklee, Lorestta Pinnetti of Easton and the late Ruth Corrigan, Pauline Moody, Roger Briscoe, Alton Briscoe, Harriet Smith, Eileen Stevens, Kenneth Briscoe and Gail Briscoe. Grandfather of 10 and great-grandfather of 7. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on August 25, 2008 at the First Baptist Church of Weymouth, 40 West St. at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the Village Cemetery in Weymouth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 36 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140 and/or National Breast Cancer Foundation, 2600 Network Blvd., Suite 300, Frisco, TX 75034. Please accept my sincerest sympathy for the loss of your dear husband and father. It is with great fondness I remember Mr. Briscoe and your wonderful home and family. May the Lord comfort you and may you find solace in Mr. Briscoe's rich life of service to Him.

Mr. Briscoe,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the U.S. Army in Europe during WW II fighting the Germans and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
