Daniel Oleary Obituary

Quincy Daniel J. "Dan" O'Leary, August 22, 2008. Dan was born in Hartford, CT. and died at the Quincy Medical Center on Friday at the age of 91. Dan grew up in Boston and graduated from Boston English High School. Upon his graduation he entered the United States Army where he served in WW II earning many decorations and citations including the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. Dan worked for over 35 years for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, retiring in 1982 as the Assistant Commissioner. In his free time, Dan was an avid golfer and a member of the Ponkapog Golf Club in Canton. He was also very active in his Church, St. Anns Parish in Wollaston where he was a member of their Holy Name Society. He was also an active member of the No. Quincy K of C. Dan has been a resident of Quincy for the past 60 years. Dan is the husband of the late Alice L. OLeary. Loving father of Joanne Pacheco of Newport, RI, Karen Gerbrands and her husband Bob of Randolph and the late Patricia A. OLeary. Brother of the late Arthur, John and Walter OLeary and Mary Ledgerwood. Dear grandfather of Jodi and Jessica. Great grandfather of Jehvine, Jaydan, Dontay, Max and Sydney. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main Street, (Rte 28), Randolph. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-7PM. At the request of the family Funeral Services and Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the D.A.V. Mr. Oleary,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the U.S. Army in Europe during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
