Mary Pendell Obituary

Hingham Mary E. Mollie (Wilson), 90 of Hingham and formerly of West Dennis and Wakefield, died Saturday August 25, 2008 at the Harbor House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hingham. She was the wife of the late Philip G. Pendell who died in 1991. They had been married for 53 years. Born in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, Mrs. Pendell was raised and educated in Eastport, ME. She was a graduate of Shead Memorial High School. A longtime resident of Wakefield, Mrs. Pendell worked for American Mutual Insurance Co. in Wakefield. She was very active in the Wakefield Congregational Church and after moving to West Dennis in 1975, she was active in the West Dennis Community Church. She was a member of the Womens Guild at both churches and served on many boards and committees. She was also a volunteer at the Trash and Treasure Thrift Shop in West Dennis. Mrs. Pendell was a member of the West Dennis Garden Club and delivered Meals on Wheels in Dennis for many years with her husband. She was also a host for an AFS student from Turkey. An avid bridge player, Mrs. Pendell enjoyed gardening and traveling. Mrs. Pendell is survived by her daughter, Prudence Allen and her husband, Kenneth of Hingham; two granddaughters, Katherine Allen of Arlington, VA and Courtney Allen of Somerville; her exchange student, Zerrin Kutkan of Istanbul, Turkey and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Russell Wilson. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday August 28 in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth. www.hallettfuneralhome.com. Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, South Dennis. Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday August 27 in the funeral home.
