Robert A. Herlihy

WEYMOUTH Robert A. Herlihy of Weymouth died Aug. 30, 2008 after a lengthy illness at the Southwood Nursing Home in Norwell. He was 84 years of age and was raised and educated in Cambridge. He lived in Weymouth for 54 years. He retired in 1985 after working 38 years as a telecommunications specialist for the telephone companies. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II as an Electricians Mate. He served on the USS Baron and the USS Mellette. He was a past Commander of the E. Weymouth VFW Post #1399. Beloved husband of the late Alice L. (Nice) Herlihy. Devoted father of Daniel J. Herlihy of Mashpee, Robert A. Herlihy Jr. of Marshfield, Thomas C. Herlihy of Quincy and Kathleen Herlihy of Marshfield and the late Patricia Ann Jacques. Loving grandfather of Jason, Shawn, Ryan, Sara, Jessica Caitlin and Danny. Great grandfather of Aiden and Shea. Visiting in the McDonald Funeral Home, SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main St., (Rte 18 opposite South Shore Hospital) Thursday evening from 4 - 8 p.m. Funeral Mass in St. Albert the Great Church, E. Weymouth at 9:00 Oclock. Interment, Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth.
