James Meachen Obituary

CARVER James H. Meachen, of Carver, died on September 2, 2008. He was 88 years old. Mr. Meachen served on PT boats in the Navy during World War II in both the Asian and European Theaters. He retired after 23 years of police service in Suffolk County, Long Island, NY. Loving husband of Veronica Meachen. Father of Forrest Butch Meachen of CA, Thomas Meachen of Carver, James Meachen of NH, and the late Linda Meachen. Cherished grandfather of 7, and great-grandfather of 1. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 4th from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St. (Rt. 58), Carver. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 5th. Burial will be at the MA National Cemetery in Bourne. Mr. Meachen,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service and sacrifice-first for our Country when you served with the USN during WW II as a Patrol Torpedo Boat crewman and secondly for the citizens of Suffolk Country when you served with the Suffolk County PD. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
