Manuel Alves Obituary

PLYMOUTH Alves, of Plymouth, Manuel Joseph, 89, at Radius Health Care Center, September 19. Husband of the late Lucy (Zaniboni) Alves. Father of Jeffrey Alves of Plymouth. Brother of Peter, Alfred and George of Plymouth, Gertrude Powers of Weymouth, Elsie Pacific of CT, Joseph of Centerville and the late Gilbert Alves and Lillian Cruz. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, September 23 at St. Mary's Church, 313 Court St., Plymouth at 10 a.m. Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 22 at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St. (Rte. 3A), N. Plymouth, 4 to 7 p.m. Mr. Alves was born in Plymouth, attended Plymouth Schools, worked at the Plymouth Cordage Co. as a rope coiler before joining the U.S. Army, serving in WWII, and returned to work at the Cordage Co. until its closing. He then went to work for The DPW for the Town of Plymouth as an assistant plant operator. He was a member of the Young America Club and The Holy Name Society; he also was an assistant Scout Master for Troop 46. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Mary's Church, 313 Court St., Plymouth, MA 02360. Burial will be private at a later date in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Mr. Alves,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Army during WW II and for being a member of the Greaetest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
