Grace Long Obituary

BROCKTON Grace N. (Burke) Long, 91 years, of Brockton died Sunday, September 21, 2008 at St. Joseph Manor, after a period of failing health. She was the loving wife for 58 years of the late John I. Long. Mrs. Long, a daughter of the late William and Nellie (Horrigan) Burke, was born and raised in Brockton and remained a lifelong resident of the city. She was a graduate of Brockton High School and retired as office manager of Brockton Family Resources, formerly known as the Judge Stone Clinic. Mrs. Long was a member of the Five and Nine Club and St. Patrick Ladies Sodality. She loved playing the piano and dancing. Always, her priority was her family. Mrs. Long is survived by three daughters Marie G. Long of Brockton, Patricia A. Jeannette and her husband Paul of Bridgewater and Barbara J. Gillespie and her husband James of Weymouth. She was the grandmother of Allison and Adam Jeannette and sister of the late Mary E. Burke, Theresa ONeil and William Burke. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St., (Rte 123) Brockton, Thursday at 9am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers donations in Graces name may to The Alzheimers Association, 311 Arsenal St,Watertown, MA 02472. Dear Marie, Barbara, and Patty
I am sorry for the loss of your mother. And sorrier for allowing my newspapers to pile up unread. I just read the obituary last week. It is never easy to say good-bye regardless of circumstances. My thoughts are with you all.
