Dear Lenny, Jackie, and Kim:

I am so sorry for your loss and was very saddened to learn about your Dad. Although I have done such a poor job of keeping in touch, I think about your Dad, Uncle Bob, a great deal of the time.

Uncle Bob was a friend and teacher having spent so much time with him when I was a young boy. We were either cutting grass, working on projects, playing cards or baseball catch, eating meatball subs and drinking cokes at the Alpine or just keeping each other company.

I remember one time, he had a construction helmet that he painted bright yellow and in black capital letters he painted "Boss #1". I had that hard hat for years!

Another time, we were out in front of Mass General Hospital on one of our visits to see Nana and got into some card games on the lawn with a huge bag of cheese popcorn and both felt sick we ate so much.

Uncle Bob even took me for my first practice car riding adventure in the old Raytheon parking lot in Quincy.

I could go on and on. And although these stories might seem trivial, they have stuck with me a lifetime and are fond memories that provided me with many lessons along the way.

Your Dad defined the word Uncle and every young boy should be as lucky as I was for the friendship and mentoring of Uncle Bob!!!

Please accept our deepest sympathies for you and your families.

Love,

Cousin Noel

To: Lenny, Jackie, Kim, Ashley, Drew,
Meredith & Gretchen

I have a few memories of your father and grandfather. He was an unusual man, in so many ways.

No matter how badly he felt physically, he was always "upbeat", greeted everyone with "enthusiasm", always had his movie camera with him for almost every occasion and I was constantly "dodging him" when he was trying to include me!

I so well remember when his dear wife Jean passed away. I had just finished praying in front of her casket, was approaching your family when Bob suddenly said:
'Oh, Elissa, Jean is gone', I'll never forget his face, his words "struck me"
so for he was a quiet and unemotional man, yet, in that moment, which was rather "uncharacteristic" of Bob", his emotions were "raw" and "so human in his sadness."

I dearly loved Jean, always will, now I look forward to talking with the both of them as I always do. I loved this
man, he was "bright as a penny", with a very quick mind, a handsome man with a beautiful family.

He suffered a great deal, however, he was not a "complainer", although he had every reason to be. I am so filled with joy because he is with Jean
and all his family members and his suffering is over, he is Home!

Dear Jackie, Lenny and Kim - We all have such fond memories of Uncle Bob! My favorite recent one was when, after emailing me all kinds of maps, directions and mapquest routes to get to the DiBona family village in Italy, he said to me "If you still get lost, call me from your cell phone" ;-)

Since Uncle Bob enjoyed his computer time and was a frequent email buddy, I thought it only fitting to leave an electronic message!

Our thoughts and prayers are with him and with all of you. With love and sympathy,
