Albyrn Cunningham Obituary

LONDONDERRY, NH Albyrn "Al" Cunningham, 81, of Londonderry, NH, died Sunday, September 28, 2008 at his home. Mr. Cunningham was born in Chelsea, MA on May 9, 1927, son of the late Duncan M. and Alice Cunningham. He was a resident of Londonderry for the last 35 years, formerly living in Halifax, MA. Al served with the U.S. Navy during WWII and Korea. He was a member of the Halifax VFW, the Londonderry American Legion and the Derry, NH VFW. He worked for General Dynamics, building radar dishes at the Quincy, MA shipyard. Al then drove a sand and gravel truck for the Quincy Quarry. Following his retirement, he went to work as a custodian for the Floyd School in Derry for 10 years. He enjoyed camping with his grandchildren and loved animals. Al truly enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time near the ocean at their favorite spots of York Beach, ME and Brant Rock, MA. He is survived by three sons, Donald Clark and his wife Brenda of Litchfield, NH, Robert Clark and his wife Lucinda of Townsend, MA, Richard Clark and his wife Judy of E. Bridgewater, MA, four granddaughters, Anne Marie Teri of Middleboro, MA, Lesley A. Clark of Washington, DC, Jacqueline M. Frates of Wareham, MA, Deborah L. Chappron of Berkley, MA, four great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandsons, numerous nieces and nephews and his dear friend, Sydney Wakefield of Manchester, NH. He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Gladys C. (Daigle) Cunningham in 1993. Visiting hours will be held from 2-3:30 pm on Friday, October 3 in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry with a funeral service to begin at 3:30 pm in the funeral home with military honors to follow. Mr. Cunningham,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the USN during WW II and the Korean War and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
