SAGAMORE BEACH Harvey Mahar, of Sagamore Beach, formerly of Abington, October 31, age 82. Beloved husband of 58 years to Mildred (Ridley) Mahar of Sagamore Beach. Loving father of William L. Mahar and wife Linda of MI, John F. Mahar and his late wife Cherie of Pembroke, Mark D. Mahar of Randolph and Patricia Goodick and husband Paul of Weymouth. Loving brother of Cynthia Kepus of FL and the late Dexter Mahar. Loving grandfather of Chrissy, Sharon, Derek, David, Deana, Ashley and Ryan. Loving great-grandfather of Brandi, Taylor, Austin, Kelley, Jillian, Sullivan and Reice. Born November 15, 1925 in Foxboro to the late Dexter and Albertha Mahar, Harvey grew up in Braintree, where he attended Braintree Schools before enlisting in the Navy at the start of W.W. II. Later he worked as a machinist at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy and also as a quality control inspector for Data Instruments in Lexington and a purchasing agent for Kentron of Rockland. Harvey was also on the Finance Committee in Abington and was instrumental in starting the soccer program in the Abington Schools. He was a member of the John Cutler Lodge in Abington and the Abington VFW. At the age of 62, Harvey retired to Cape Cod and FL. Arrangements by the Quealy and Son Funeral Home, 116 Adams St., Abington. A Graveside Service will be held Friday, November 7 at 11:15 a.m. in the MA National Cemetery, Bourne.
