Ruth Dunbar Obituary

COHASSET Ruth M. (MacPherson) Dunbar, age 92, of Cohasset, formerly of Braintree and Quincy, died Friday, November 7, 2008 at the Golden Living Center in Cohasset. She was born in Quincy, raised and educated in Quincy schools and was a graduate of Quincy High School. Mrs. Dunbar has lived in Cohasset for three years, previously two years in Braintree and Quincy for most of her life. Mrs. Dunbar was a homemaker but during World War II she was employed as the assistant manager at the former F. W. Woolworth Company in Quincy Center. She later worked in retail sales and also for the Quincy School Department in the cafeteria at the Lincoln Hancock School. She has been retired many years. Mrs. Dunbar enjoyed gardening. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth C. Dunbar. Devoted mother of Kenneth C. Dunbar, Jr. and his wife Donna of Hingham and Marsha A. Dunbar. Loving grandmother of Kenneth C. Dunbar III of Gansevoort, NY and Sarah Hambleton of Cambridge. Great Grandmother of Jackson Dunbar. Private Graveside Services were conducted Monday, November 10th at the Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree. Visiting hours were omitted. For those who wish, donations in Mrs. Dunbars memory may be made to Father Bills Place, 38 Broad Street, Quincy, MA 02169. Arrangements under the direction of the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, Inc., 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy.

Marsha,
I am sorry to read of the loss of your mom. I will always remember your mom as a proper, well-dressed, lovely lady taking the bus to Quincy Square or the South Shore Plaza. And I also remember a fun sleep-over she let you host at your house on Bartlett St. Your mother was also a lunch attendant for one of my sons at the Lincoln-Hancock Elementary School.
Cherish the memories.
