William H. McGowan

QUINCY William H. "Bill" McGowan, of Quincy passed away at Quincy Medical Center on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at age 80. Born in Boston where he was raised and educated, he graduated from Boston Trade High School and moved to Quincy in 1947. A foreman for the Quincy Water Dept for 20 years, Bill retired in 1990 and was a member of the Quincy Yacht Club and Harvey's Saltwater Fishing Club. The beloved husband of Rita C. (Lyons) McGowan, he is the beloved father of Anne Dalton and her husband John of Hingham, Patricia Ford and her husband George of So. Weymouth, Thomas McGowan and his wife Linh of Canton, Joan Collins and her husband Stephen of Abington, Edward McGowan and his wife Jayne of Braintree, Timothy McGowan and his wife Elizabeth and Kathleen Maykis and her husband Joseph, all of Weymouth and Daniel McGowan and his wife Jill of Amherst, NH. Bill is the grandfather of 19 and great grandfather of 2 and is also survived by his sisters, Helen Cossette of Quincy and Barbara Christie of Weymouth and his brother Owen McGowan of Quincy. His funeral will be from the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home, 74 Elm St., Quincy Center on Saturday, November 15 at 9:00am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00am. Family and friends are invited. Visiting hours are on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00pm.
