It's been a week since my uncle has passed after dedicating everyday after school and work to go up to the hospital and visit my uncle to see how he was doing so I could hold his hand and be there for him, like he has always done for me. John has been more than an uncle to me, he has been like a father that I have never had. The pain and emptiness I feel inside everytime I look in his room when I go into my nana's house feels so fake still. Although his death did hit me real hard the first week, I just completely broke down everyday, from day to night, I have to be strong for my family now. John and all of our happy memories will always remain with me, but he will be greatly missed. I want to make him proud by becomming a firefighter one day and follow in his footsteps because he was such a heroic person and has had such an influence in my life. I'll love u forever Uncle John, thank you for everything and you'll be truly missed! Now you'll be in a better place, out of pain and with Danny and Bumpy again....tell them I said hi & I miss them. I wish you knew how much you have touched peoples lives and I hope you got to see the amazing Firefighters Funeral we had for you....you deff deserved it!

I last saw John in Atlanta during his rehab, it had been ten years. His childhood friends were there helping him through that difficult time. I was very proud of them all and knew that John was surrounded by good friends and he would persevere. It's been many years since we hung out at "A" Street pier and on the corner with "Clas", but those memories will remain with me forever and they will always bring a smile to my face. Thanks Clas for everything. for John's family and children, I know these words are no consolation for your loss, but hopefully knowing that Clas was a Real Hero, a Great Father, a True Friend and was admired by many will help.......Fair Winds and Following Seas John Clasby and know that all the stories about you will start with a smile…...........

Ah, it's hard to beleive. Some days after school I would walk out back to my grandmother's house and visit him. I was always greeted by the two dogs, Simba, John's long-time companion at his bedside, and Rachel, the shy one. As I walked around the corner, my grandmother would always be sitting in the chair her husband made her before he passed, as he was wood-worker. I would look to the left, and my Uncle would be laying there, watching the news, or a cop show. He would look over and say "Oh, hey Ty, how're you doin' bud?" His two sons, twins, Sean and DJ, would be upstairs fighting about somthing stupid. It was just such a good feeling to be there. Now, when I go there, it seems cold, lifeless, other than my grandmother sitting there on her chair, with her head buried in her hands. Then I noticed how different it felt without my uncle being there. I don't feel as much sadness, but more shock, love you Uncle John.
