Alice King Obituary

SANDWICH Alice Evelyn King of Sandwich died, Tuesday November 18, 2008 at home due to a long illness. She was the wife of the late Donald (Dusty) King of Sandwich. She was born in Brockton. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Fleury of Brockton. She was raised in Brockton and graduated from Brockton High School. She went to work for New England Telephone right out of high school and retired after 35 years of loyal service. She was a member of the Telephone Workers Pioneers of America. She loved knitting, beaching, bowling, and reading. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and her dog Benny. She was a devoted friend to her "Club Girls" who will miss her very much. Alice is survived by her children. Claudia Burgess of Melbourne, FL and her husband Glenn, Jo-Ellen Leach of Sandwich, MA and her husband Gary, Tracy Grady of Hanover, MA and her husband Jim, and her son Christopher King of Abington, MA; 6 grandchildren Jillian, Justin, Allyson, Glenn, Cohn and Taylor Rose. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Georgianna LaFratta of Monument Beach and her husband James and Rita Madden of Saranac Lake, NY and her husband William. She is also survived by 2 sisters-in law Ruth Garabedian of East Bridgewater and Jean King of Duxbury. She is remembered as a loving auntie to many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be Sunday November 23 from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home 154 Route 6A, Sandwich, MA. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home Monday November 24 at 10:00am. The interment will follow at the National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations made in her memory to Cranberry Hospice, of Plymouth or The American Cancer Society.
