Mary Ruhe Obituary

Sr. Mary Agatha Ruhe, CDP KINGSTON Sr. Mary Agatha Ruhe, CDP, Sister of Divine Providence, of Kingston, died November 23. She was 86. Born on March 4, 1922, she was the daughter of Leonard and Mary (Huppertz) Ruhe. She was the sister of the late Marie, Albert, Donald and Edward. She is survived by a niece Judi Frederick and her husband Bob of Bridgewater and 13 other nieces and nephews. Sr. Mary Agatha entered the Community on November 1, 1942 and celebrated 66 years of her religious life. She spent three of her earliest years ministering in food service in Pittsburgh at All Saints, Etna. In 1946, she came to cook at the Divine Word Missionaries in Duxbury and later served at Cardinal O'Connell seminary in Jamaica Plain. She served at both Sacred Heart Schools and summers at Camp Mishannock. Sr. Mary Agatha became well known for her outreach to those in need, and she received the Commonworks Award for her service at a regional homeless shelter. In 1999, she served in St. Helen Parish, MI, as a Pastoral Associate. In 2003, she retired to the Lourdes Center in Kingston. Visiting hours on Friday, November 28 at the Providence House, 363 Bishop's Highway, Kingston from 2-5 and 6-7:30 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at the Providence House at 10 a.m. Interment in Our Lady of Divine Providence Cemetery, Kingston.
