Irene E. Sorensen

PLYMOUTH Irene Elise Sorensen, 62, passed away on December 4, 2008 after a courageous battle with a long illness. Irene is survived by her husband Dr. James R. Sorensen of Plymouth, and her five sons: Brian Sorensen of Sterling Virginia, Scott Sorensen, Andrew Sorensen, Greg Sorensen, and Matthew Sorensen all of Plymouth. Born February 5,1947 in Bronx, New York, Irene is the daughter of Dominick Pesce and Tessile Barbero of Oceanside, New York. Irene leaves behind two sisters, Elise Kunkel of Rockville Centre, New York, and Adrienne Sorensen of Patchogue, New York, also three grandchildren, Brady Sorensen, Dominick Sorensen and Bradlee Sorensen all of Plymouth. Irene earned her undergraduate degree from Manhattan School of Music and her Masters Degree from Hosftra University. Later she began her career as a teacher of third grade. After moving to Plymouth, MA, Irene was appointed the Director of Ocean Sprays Cranberry World. More recently, Irene worked approximately 25 years as a member of Ocean Sprays Grower Relations Department. Irene was an active member of the community, serving through hospice volunteering, charitable events, specifically the Avon Breast Cancer Walk, and was a volunteer organist at church services. Calling hours will be held Friday, December 5, 4-8 p.m., at Bartlett-Garrity Funeral Home, 338 Court St. Plymouth. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, December 6, at 10 a.m., in St Peter's Church, 86 Court St., Plymouth.
