Ashley Holmes Obituary

PLYMOUTH Ashley V. Holmes, 76, of Plymouth, passed away Friday, December 5, 2008. He was the loving husband of Agnes Holmes for 40 years. Ashley was born June 30, 1932 in Plymouth. He was the son of Ernest V. Holmes and Susan (Finney) Holmes. Ashley attended Plymouth schools, and after graduating from Plymouth High School in 1950, he enlisted in the United States Army where he was a sergeant in the 510th Tank Battalion AP046. He served during the Korean War. Ashley worked and owned cranberry bogs most of his life. As well as working for Elmer T. Holman doing excavating/construction work for many years. He was an avid sports fan who also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards at the Screenhouse and his recliner. In addition to his wife Agnes, Ashley is survived by his son, Donald and his wife Yvonne Lincoln-Holmes, step-sons Richard Wall, Jr. and his wife Terri, Allan Wall and his wife Donna, Glen Wall and his wife Toni, step-daughters Joan Brugger and Susan Fugazzi and her husband Robert as well as his brother Bernard and his wife Elizabeth Holmes and his sister Eldora Courtney. Ashley also leaves behind eleven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements will be made by the Bartlett-Garrity Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Calling hours will be Monday, December 8, from 4:00 7:00 P.M. Friends are respectfully invited to attend. A graveside service will be held at Chiltonville Cemetery, December 9th, at 11:00 A.M. Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
