Gaetano Bognanno Obituary

Gaetano "Guy" Bognanno BRAINTREE Gaetano Guy Bognanno, also known as Sonny, died Friday evening at his home in Braintree after a long illness. He was 71. Guy was born in South Boston and graduated from South Boston High School in 1954. He had lived in Braintree for the past 29 years and worked in the Boston School System Music Department for many years. He was an avid musician and a member of the Bob Jennings Orchestra for over 18 years. Guy started playing professionally at the age of 13 and continued to play until his stroke in 2001. He loved teaching and playing music, touching thousands of people over the years. The music industry will miss this talented sax man. Guy is survived by his two sons, Richard Bognanno of Braintree and Guy Bognanno and his wife Lori of Weymouth. He is also survived by his former wife Doreen Calascibetta and numerous friends and relatives. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours in the McMaster Funeral Home, 86 Franklin St. (Rte. 37) Braintree on Wednesday from 4-8pm with a Prayer Service to be conducted at 7pm. Interment will be in St. Michaels Cemetery, Boston. In Lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445.
