Edward Baush Obituary

Edward R. Baush SCITUATE Edward R. Baush of Scituate formerly of Bedford, MA, died peacefully on June 13, 2009, at the age of 86. Loving husband of sixty-four years to Frances M. (Hagerty). Ed married Fran in 1944. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp during WWII as a pilot and flew a B-24 Liberator aircraft in the Carpetbagger Division of the 801st/492nd Bombardment Group. Ed graduated in 1949 from UMass Amherst, receiving a Bachelor of Science and Masters in Food Science. He worked with Department of Agriculture in Washington, DC, Cryovac Chemical Co. in Cambridge, United Fruit & Food/United Brands in Boston, private consulting and Natick Laboratories in Natick. Ed enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking, gardening and extensive travel with his wife. He loved music, dancing and his summer home at Lovell Lake in NH. Most recently, he enjoyed several warm winters with his wife and members of his family in Port Charlotte, FL. Devoted father of Susan M. Baush of Scituate, Linda C. Cali and her husband Robert of Boxborough and Rosemary A. Zimmerman of Sanbornville, NH. Brother of George A. Baush of Holyoke and the late Harold Bauch. Grandfather of Robert E. and Michael J. Cali, Robert D., Amy M. and Thomas C. Zimmerman. Also by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd., Scituate on Wednesday, June 17th at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Nativity at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Marys Cemetery, Scituate. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cardiac Care Unit, South Shore Hospital, 55 Fogg Rd, Weymouth, MA 02190 or St. Marys Parish, One Kent St., Scituate, MA 02066. Mr. Baush,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the U.S. Army Air Forces in Europe during WW II fighting the Germans as a member of the 8th Air Force with the 492nd Bomb Group was a part of. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy. After suffering heavy losses during bombing raids over Nazi-occupied Europe, the 492nd flew night missions dropping supplies and agents to the various Resistance groups fighting the Nazis from the Summer of 1944 through to VE Day in 1945.
