Karl and I were just talking about Doug during a recent telephone chat. It just shows even after all these years we still think of Doug and he truly was a very special person who touched all our lives in a very special way. We still think of him.

Ryan & Nikki
Way back in 1981 I printed a little book for Doug entitled "Listen All My Children" by Sadie Alice Cummings. While cleaning out an old storage closet recently I came across the original art and was wondering if you would like to have it?

I played golf often with Doug and Joe Watson at TPC during his last two years before his stroke. Joe and I mention Doug at least once a round- he is missed!

To the Mann Family - it's odd how sometimes you think of a person from your past. Just today I looked for Doug on line and was saddened to read of his passing. I remember him from Offutt Air Force base when we were both in our 20's and I met him at a dance. Later when he established Calmbake International I worked a few Clambakes with him from Boston to New York and Florida and then purchased a franchise from him and opened Clambake of California in the 1970's when I was living in Belmont, CA. I lost track of Doug when our family moved to Bellevue, WA in 1982 and I closed the Clambake Franchise at that time. Even when Doug was in his 20's he had that creative mind - always a great sense of humor and zest for life. I am truly sorry to hear of your loss and my prayers are with you.

Mr. Mann,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the USAF during the Cold War. Millions of Americans slept safe at night because you and your fellow servicemen stood ready to defend our Country. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

To the Mann family. I was absolutely shocked when Susan informed me of Doug's passing. I had been just thinking about him the day before yesterday and although I had not seen him since my first year at Norwich, I will always remember him for his athletic ability from Little League through high school. I will also remember his sense of humor, kindness, friendship, and willingness to always help anyone. Had no idea of all his accomplishments since high school but none of them surprise me. I can still recall what he wrote in my yearbook in 1960 and will always treasure those words. My prayers and sympathy go out to you all and may you find comfort in your memories and the sorrow we all feel at the loss of our wonderful friend and classmate. As the Hawaiians like to say : Aloha 'oe, Doug. ( Farewell until we meet again )

I called him the "Dougmeister"! Spent 3 days with Doug in Venice this past February. Many good laughs whenever in his presence. Generous to a fault, Doug was always there. We shared a condo in Nahant, MA.. Penthouse no less. Great memories. I"m sure he'll bring laughter to the Master. My deepest condolences to Nikki, Ryan, and all of his family. God Bless Doug.

Thinking of Doug brings back memories of tromping around the woods on foggy nights when there was “frost on the bogs”; shooting off home made rockets in the back yard; double dating in his dad’s big old Oldsmobile. Although I hadn’t seen him for a few years I still consider him as one of my best friends. He will be missed.

Doug will be missed by so many --- including all those who enjoyed his happiness, his enthusiasm and his spirit during those wonderful years in high school. For me, personally, Doug was one of my very best male friends. We had so many good talks and so very many laughs over all the years. Indeed, his memory will live on in all our hearts.
