Althea Cobbett Obituary

Althea M Cobbett Rockland â€" Althea M. (Pratt) Cobbett, 80, of Rockland died on Sept. 26, 2007, in the Brockton Hospital. She was born in Hanson, daughter of the late Alan L. and Lois E. (Perkins) Pratt and was raised and educated in Rockland, graduating from Rockland High School. Mrs. Cobbett retired from U.S.F.&G Insurance Co. in Quincy, where she had been employed as a commercial lines clerk. She had also been a waitress for Sunnyfield’s Restaurant in Abington and Trueman’s Catering of Rockland and had been a professional cake decorator for many years. Althea was a member of the Rebekkah Lodge of Massachusetts and the Lower Crescent St. Chowder and Marching Society. Wife of the late George A. Cobbett Sr.; she is survived by her children, George A. Cobbett Jr. and his wife Marie of Bridgewater, Alan E. Cobbett and his wife Evelyn of Rockland, Shirley M. Jacob and her husband Don of Carver and Lynn E. Botelho and her husband Christopher of Rockland. She was the sister of Thelma Walker of New York, Ernestine Rinaldi of Plymouth and the late Alanne Leonard. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; her pet and faithful companion “Autumnâ€�; and a large circle of faithful friends. A funeral will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. in the First Congregational Church of Rockland. Burial will follow in Fern Hill Cemetery in Hanson. Calling hours in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home will be on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. Donations may be made to Old Colony Hospice, One Credit Union Way Randolph, MA 02368.
