Roger Persson Obituary

Roger E Persson Jr. Hyannis â€" Roger E. Persson Jr., age 54 years, passed away Saturday in Hyannis following a brief illness. Born in Brockton, he was a son of Marilyn L. (Gray) Persson of Connecticut and the late Roger E. Persson Sr. He was raised in East Bridgewater and was a graduate of East Bridgewater High School and also attended Paul Smith College in New York. Roger had been a resident of the Cape for the past 30 years. He was employed for many years by the Massachusetts Steamship Authority. He was a Civil War and Western History enthusiast and also enjoyed boating and fishing. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. In addition to his mother, he is survived by three sisters, Janice P. Williams and husband Donald C. of Rhode Island, Joyce A. Macrina and husband Richard D. of Connecticut and Kathleen H. Costello and husband Michael T. of Mattapoisett; a nephew, Jonathan C. Williams; and two nieces, Lauren C. and Leigh A. Costello. As well as a close friend, Sharon Brilliant of Cape Cod. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 11 a.m. in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St., Brockton. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. Private interment will be held at a later date in the Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Jimmy Fund, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226, attn: Contribution Services.
