Michael Brides Obituary

Michael J Brides Brockton â€" Michael J. Brides, 81, a lifelong resident of Brockton, died Friday evening, Sept. 28, 2007, at the Life Care Center of West Bridgewater. He was the husband of the late Anna May (Graham) Brides. Born Nov. 4, 1925, in Brockton, he was a son of the late Michael Brides and Susan (Drew) Brides. Mr. Brides attended Brockton Schools before serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. Michael worked as an oil burner technician for Brockton Ice & Coal and the city of Brockton for several years. He was very active in the Knights of Columbus. He was a 4th degree knight and served as past grand knight and volunteered for bingo for several years. He was a communicant of St. Margaret Church in Brockton and St. Ann Church in West Bridgewater. He is survived by his children, Susan H. Brides of Hanson and Gary M. Brides and his wife Donna of West Bridgewater; his grandchildren, Sarah, Michael and Katelyn Brides; his sister, Margurite Gaquin of Whitman; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mary Karafotias, Philip Brides, Patricia Wilson, Jacqueline Coots and Robert Brides. Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St. (Rte. 123), Brockton, on Wednesday at 9 a.m. thence to St. Ann Church, 103 North Main St., West Bridgewater, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home Tuesday 5-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael’s memory may be made to St. Ann Church, 103 North Main St., West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
