Coach Wheeler always made me trust my decisions, compete with confidence, and win with dignity. In my memories of Coach, he is standing on the sideline as I head toward him during a timeout at a critical point in our game against Brookline. When I get to him, he asks "Do you have a play in mind". I say "yes" then tell him the play. Coach says that he has a play too. He gives me his play. As I turn toward the field he stops me and says, "Run your play FIRST, then run my play". You can't believe the impact that this simple statement has had on my life. Coach Wheeler will deffinately be remembered.
I'm deeply sorrowed by your loss.
Sincerely, Ken Wilson (Weymouth HS, 1967)

To the Wheeler Family, May the memory of your beloved, Jim, be forever eternal. I know I speak for hundreds of his former students and athletes at Hull High school, where Jim served with disticntion for many years, when I say he was a true gentleman, an outstanding teacher-coach, and one who served as a role model. It was a honor to know him as a friend and colleague.....Nick Meleones
