We are all in the water works community sadden by Alice's passing. She was committed to this organization and the members for 34 years. She was an honest strong woman who kept the New England Water Works Association on track and true to the mission during her tenure. Thank you Alice, may you rest in peace.

For the past year, I have been one of Alice's caregivers at the Eventide Home in Quincy. In that year's time Alice and I forged a strong bond of friendship. I saw in her a strength of character and deep moral values. She was a woman of her word and she expected you to be too. Some people were a little bothered by her outspokeness but not me. It was honest!!
Alice enjoyed hearing me talk about my upcoming wedding. She liked hearing all the planning details. She had a hard time remembering my wedding date so I wrote the date on a piece of paper and taped it on her bedroom wall.
Alice and I had such nice conversations each day as I cared for her. She was quite intelligent but it was hard for her to express herself sometimes. The one thing that she expressed to me very clearly and touched my heart very deeply was that when she saw that it would be me caring for her that day, she could relax because she knew that she could trust me and that she was in good hands with me. She used to say she was so happy to see me. And I was happy to see her too.
Alice Hathaway was my friend, a truly great lady, and I will forever hold her memory in my heart.
Sincerely,
Debbie Sakriba
