James Tyrie Obituary

James C Tyrie, Jr. HANOVER â€" James C. Tyrie Jr., 75 of Hanover died on October 2, 2007 at his home. He was born in Weymouth, son of the late James C. and Grace (Carver) Tyrie, Sr. He was raised and educated in Hanover graduating from Hanover High School in 1951. Mr. Tyrie was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during the Korean Conflict with the 1st Tank Battalion as a tank commander. He had been employed for the past 15 years as a salesman for the Araban Coffee Company in Hingham. He previously worked at the New England Tea and Coffee Company in Malden for 20 years. James was a Past President of the Tri-Town Kiwanis Club. He also was a member of the Phoenix Lodge Masons in Hanover. He was a member of the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association, and was the Past President of the St. Moritz Horseshoe Club in Quincy. He is survived by his wife, Margaret A. (Thompson) Jokinen Tyrie. His children, Carol A. Hyland of Hanover, Charles F. Jokinen of VT, David W. Tyrie of Hanson, Linda J. Foti of Hanover, Cheri L. Dauphinee of Norwell, and Darryl J. Tyrie of Plymouth. James was the husband of the late Barbara L. (Walton) Tyrie and brother to the late John C. Tyrie and Grace A. Cobbett. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral will be held in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. ROCKLAND on Saturday at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Hanover Center Cemetery. Calling hours on Friday from 5-8 PM. Donations may be made to Hospice of the South Shore,100 Baystate Dr. Braintree, MA 02184. Sir, I didn't know you but as a fellow Marine I would like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the USMC in Korea with 1st Tanks of the 1st Marine Division. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
