Arthur E. Saunders Sr.

Arthur E Saunders Sr. Brockton â€" Arthur E. Saunders Sr., of Brockton and Jamaica Plain, Oct. 1, 2007, 83, musician. The son of the late Curtis Saunders Sr. and Mable Broadas of Woburn; loving father of six children, daughters, Dineen, Cheryl, Kathleen and Sandra, and sons, Arthur Jr. (deceased) and Charles (Chucky) Saunders. Mr. Saunders (Artie) had a first wife and mother of his children, Helen J. Saunders (deceased). Mr. Saunders is also survived by 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; his former wife, Lula Sanders; his stepdaughter, Alfreda Sanders; two sisters and a brother, the late Milliston (Milly) Evans and Delores Fairley and the late Francis (Frannie) Saunders; a close cousin, Sylvia (Woburn); and other relatives and close friends. An accomplished musician, the Art Saunders Organ Combo, was the jazz and rhythm and blues band that Mr. Saunders lead during the late 1970s and 1980s, his lifelong passion. Mr. Saunders served in World War II in the U.S. Army, in Normandy, Germany, and Central Europe; awarded a number of service medals, including Victory and Good Conduct. A viewing for Mr. Saunders will be held on Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, from 5 - 7 p.m at the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home, 10 Tower St. (opposite Forest Hills MBTA Station), Jamaica Plain. Funeral services will be held the following day, Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at the Messiah Baptist Church, 80 Legion Pkwy, Brockton, MA 02301, beginning at 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. (a Repast will follow the services).
