Mary Mahoney Obituary

Mary Mahoney ROCKLAND Mary (Gillis) Mahoney, 66, of Rockland, died on October 3, 2007 at her home. She was born in New Argyle P.E.I., Daughter of Catherine Gillis (Stewart) and the late Alexander Gillis. She was raised and educated in Cambridge graduating from Cambridge Latin High School in 1958. Mrs. Mahoney worked for 20 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Mildred Alfred Nursing Home in Abington, before retiring in 2006. Mary was an active member of both the Loyal Orange Ladies Lodge, as well as the Rebekah Lodge of Massachusetts. In her free time Mary enjoyed following the Red Sox, Bruins, and Patriots. She also loved the time that she spent with her family on Thursday nights at their weekly family dinners and card games. Mrs. Mahoney also loved to spend time with her family on Prince Edward Island. Mary was a very devoted family woman. Mary is the wife of the late John D. Mahoney. She is survived by her children, Robert Mahoney and his wife Mary of Rockland, Mark Mahoney and his wife Linda of Brockton, Scott Mahoney and his wife Michelle of Whitman, Shawn Mahoney of Rockland, and Cheryl Mahoney of Rockland. Also survived by her brother, Kevin Gillis and his wife Kathleen of New Argyle, PEI. She was also the sister of the late Jack Gillis of Seaview, PEI. Also survived by her Sister-in-Laws, Beverly Mahoney of Kingston and Elaine Gillis of Seaview, PEI. Mary was the Grandmother of Kasey Mahoney, Brian Mahoney, Abigail Mahoney, Madison Mahoney, David Cooper, and Michael Cooper. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Funeral will be held in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. ROCKLAND on Tuesday at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow in the Drake Family Cemetery in Sharon. catherine and all of mary's children. i was saddened to learn of mary's death. it has been a while since i have seen mary, but i do have memories of visiting her in rockland and also visiting with her and john while a few of us were visiting catherine in pei.
