Edna Flanagan Obituary

Edna L Flanagan Rockland â€" Edna L. (Weeks) Flanagan, 87, a resident of Rockland, formerly of Whitman, Marshfield and Wareham, died Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Wingate at Silver Lake in Kingston after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Joseph J. Flanagan, they were married for 52 years. She was born in Brockton, daughter of the late Bernard and Agnes (McMullen) Weeks. She was a secretary for Regal Shoe Co. in Whitman and for Flanagan Insurance Co. in Rockland, before retiring. Edna grew up in Hanson, she was a 1938 graduate of Whitman High School. She attended the Whitman Congregational Church, a member of the Eastern Star Pilgrim and the Coast Guard Auxiliary with her husband. Edna wintered in Florida and summered for more than 20 years at their cottage on Saquish in Duxbury. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She is survived by her son, James Flanagan and his wife Sue of Rockland; her daughters, Margaret Hill and her husband Richard, Catherine LeBlanc and her husband Ed of Jacksonville, Fla.; her sisters, Dorothy Rhodes of Illinois and Marion Roberts of Florida; also eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 10 a.m. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Inc., Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle), Whitman. Burial will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours Tuesday, Oct. 9, 4-8 p.m. Donations may be made in her name to the Jordan Hospital, 275 Sandwich St., Plymouth, MA 02360. www.blanchardfc.com.
