R. Martin Obituary

R Patricia Martin BROCKTON â€" R. Patricia (Macfarlane) Martin, Registered Nurse, died October 6 at her home following a brief illness. Born in Fall River, Mrs. Martin was the daughter of William J. and Ruth (Sherman) Macfarlane. She was the wife of the late Theodore H. Martin. Mrs. Martin was a graduate of Brockton High and attended the Brockton Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1951. After receiving her cap, she worked as a Registered Nurse at Brockton Hospital and for many years as Head Nurse in the Boston City Hospital Emergency Room. She also worked at the Brockton V.A. and several other area hospitals. She recently retired from a nursing position at Lifecare of Raynham. Mrs. Martin was a great Red Sox fan and loved visiting Disney. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed traveling, gardening, knitting, playing cards and, especially, spending time with her family. She is survived by her children, William M. Martin of East Bridgewater, Stephen E. Martin of Brockton and Kim M. Tynan of Taunton. She also leaves two granddaughters, Maura and Jessica, a great granddaughter, her grandsons Jon, Eric and Brandon and his mother Susan of Plymouth. She leaves her sisters, Ann Martin and Kathleen “Kathieâ€� Ramsey both of Marshfield and their children, three nieces, a nephew and their families. Funeral Service in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday at 9:30am. Burial in Couch Cemetery, Marshfield. Visiting Hours Tuesday 5-8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to a scholarship for the Brockton Hospital School of Nursing, 680 Centre Street, Brockton, MA 02302.
