Edward DeMasi Obituary

Edward A DeMasi, Jr. PLYMOUTH â€" Edward A. DeMasi, Jr. of Plymouth, died on October 6, 2007. He was 86 years old. Mr. DeMasi was raised in Medford, and was a graduate of Medford High School, Class of 1938. He was a member of the CCC (Civilian Construction Corp.), FDR's pet project, company #1171 in North Adams. He entered into the Marines and served in the 4th Marine Division during WW II, and is a survivor of the Battle of Iwo Jima. He lived his married life in Quincy and worked for Boston Edison for 36 years. After his retirement in 1985, he moved to Plymouth. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in N. Quincy, and was also a member of the Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Church. He was the husband of the late Frances L. (Mahoney) DeMasi. Father of 5 sons; Edward A. DeMasi of Plymouth, Ralph M. DeMasi of Ayer, Joseph G. DeMasi of FL, Michael DeMasi of Brockton, and Steven DeMasi of Gardner, and 6 daughters; Joan Marie Whiffen of Hanson, Susan DeMasi of Quincy, Paula Frizzell of Plymouth, Denise DeMasi of Plymouth, Diane Pineo of Brockton and Michelle DeMasi-Gatchell of RI. Brother of Alfred DeMasi of CA, Warren DeMasi of Wakefield, Lido DeMasi of Medford, Concetta Reagan of Medford, Olga Lepordo of CA, and the late Mario DeMasi and Ralph DeMasi. Grandfather of 17 and great-grandfather of 13. Also survived by his companion Ida Clark. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, October 9 from 4-8 p.m. at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St., (Rte. 58) Carver. A Funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Kateri Church, 140 S. Meadow Rd., Plymouth, at 9 a.m. Burial be be at the MA National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blessed Kateri Church, 140 S. Meadow Rd., Plymouth, MA 02360. Mr. DeMasi,
Sir, I didn't know you but as a fellow Marine I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the USMC with the 4th Mar Div. during WW II. It was the history and accomplishments made by you and your fellow Marines at Iwo Jima that all of us Marines who have followed in your footsteps have always tried to live up to. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
