Richard E. Deal Rockland , Richard E. "Dick" Deal, a longtime resident of Rockland, died Sunday , November 4th in the Weymouth Health Care of Mesothelioma, he was 68.Dick was the husband of 45 years to June ( Breivogel) Deal of Rockland. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, he served from 1956-1960 as an AMH2.Born and brought up in New York, he was the son of the late Edward and Agnes (Wittich) Deal. Dick worked at the Fore River Shipyard for 18 years and then became a purchasing agent for James Russell Engineering in Dorchester. He was a member and past president of the Rockland Lions Club, also the Rockland Eagles #841. He loved to vacation at his home on New Found Lake in New Hampshire. In addition to his wife of 45 years, he is survived by his son, Brian Deal, his daughter Brenda Atkins both of Rockland; also his grandchildren, Melissa Gaffney, Noelle and Jaymie Atkins. His Funeral Service will be held Friday November 9th at 11:00 A. M. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Inc, Plymouth Street (Rt 58 at the Rotary Circle), Whitman, MA. Burial will be at a later date.
