Geraldine McBurnie Obituary

Geraldine McBurnie North Weymouth Geraldine "Gerry" (Downey) McBurnie passed away peacefully at her home in North Weymouth surrounded by her beloved children at the age of 73, on Friday, November 30, 2007. She was born and raised in Quincy and lived in North Weymouth for over 50 years. Her first priority was her family and children and was a homemaker for many years. She later became a function manager for Dominic's Catering of Quincy, and later was also function manager at the Boston Teachers Union Hall in Dorchester. She loved to travel. Former wife of George E. McBurnie of Kingston. Devoted mother of Elizabeth McBurnie of E. Weymouth, Nancy McBurnie of North Weymouth, Kelli and her husband Tom Johnson of Norwell, Geraldine and her husband Gordon Monks of Francestown, NH, George and his wife Barbara McBurnie of Quincy, Traci McBurnie-Sullivan of North Weymouth and Greg and his wife Kathleen McBurnie of Pembroke. Loving grandmother of David Suppa of Quincy, Stephen and Mark Suppa, both of Pembroke, Amanda, Matthew and Michael Johnson, all of Norwell, Alycia, Michael and Jonathan McBurnie, all of Pembroke and Rebecca McBurnie of Quincy. Sister of Elizabeth Olivieri of Weymouth, Marilyn Burgess of Long Island, NY and the late James Downey of Braintree, Robert Downey of Brockton, Kenneth Downey of Weymouth and Janet Spano of South Weymouth. Gerry is also survived by 22 nieces and nephews. Funeral from the NORTH WEYMOUTH McDonald Funeral Home, at 40 Sea St. (off Rte. 3-A) Thursday at 8 a.m. Funeral Mass in St. Jerome's Church, North Weymouth at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Weymouth. To the McBurnie Family,
I'm so sorry to hear of Gerry's passing. I went on several Carribean trips with Gerry, and specifically remember the fun we had in Bonaire. We also got thrown out of orientation in Cancun for laughing too much! Gerry was always up for a laugh, and was well respected. Again, my condolences to all.
