News Death Notice
MCKENNA, Edwin J. 89, reunited with his beloved wife Millie; father, Edwin J. McKenna; mother ,Minnie (Eckberg) McKenna Glenn; brother, William McKenna; and grandson, Jet Greene at the Lord's table on Saturday, August 6, 2011. He graduated from the Ohio Soldiers and Sailors Home in Xenia, Ohio in 1940 and served four years in the United States Army during WWII. He retired from R & M after 43 years of service. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. He is survived by sons Patrick (Cath) McKenna of Salina, KS.; William (Christy) McKenna of Lithia, FL; daughters Marcia (Dan) Hiles of Springfield; Melissa McKenna of Springfield; Mary (Greg) Jensen of Clay Center, Ks.; Michele (Robert) Scopa of Gastonia, NC; sister-in-law, Mary Margaret McKenna of Vandalia, OH; 19 grandchildren, Mary Michelle (Aaron) Sewell of Emporia, Ks.; Thomas, Sam, Edwin, Anna & Joe McKenna of Salina, Ks.; Scott (Jill) Hiles of London, OH; Danni & Adam Hiles of Springfield; Joe (Sarah) Greene and Jake Greene of Clayton, OH; Jordan & Molly Greene of Clay Center, KS.; Melissa (Danny) Owens & Georgia Scopa of Gastonia, NC; Patrick E. McKenna of Spartanburg, SC; Meredith McKenna of Salt Lake City, UT; William McKenna of Ft. Benning, GA; and Taylor McKenna of Lithia, FL; 11 great grandchildren: Marley, Myles, Tristyn, Mallory, Sammie, Isabel, Jacob, Justin, Drake, & Noah; and many nieces & nephews. He will be remembered for his love of family, love of travel, watching the Cincinnati Reds, and creating yard art. The family would like to thank the staff of Community Mercy Hospice, especially, Lynn, Diana & Barb; Drs. Singh, Boor, Espinosa, Panayides, and their staff; and Louise Klag. Family and friends may call from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, August 9th, 2011 at the Conroy Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Wednesday, August 10th, 2011 at St. Bernard Catholic Church followed with burial at St. Bernard Cemetery.
