Joseph Sturgis Obituary

STURGIS, Joseph R.
Age 62, of Covington, PA, died Sunday, July 13, 2008, at his home. Joseph was born June 14, 1946 in Elmira, NY, a son of Allyn and Ida (Preston) Sturgis. Joseph graduated from Canton High School, Class of 1964 as valedictorian, and from Penn State in 1968. He worked as a cartographer for Britannica Encyclopedia. Joseph was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a life master at playing Bridge. Joseph is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Ron Bates of Painted Post, NY; stepfather, Gerald Parker of Liberty, PA; stepsisters and brothers-in-law, Joann (Jim) Black of Liberty, PA, Sheila (Joe) Guillaume of Liberty, PA, Sandra (Dennis) Hall of State College, PA., Jane (Barry) Hultz of Millerton, PA, Fern (Jerry) McNett of Canton, PA; an aunt, Mable deBruin of Canton, PA; one nephew, John E. Heffner, Jr. of Henderson, NV. In keeping with Joseph's wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S.
