TOWER, Maru J.
Age 82, of Pinnacle Towers, Wellsboro, PA, died July 19, 2008 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Herbert W. Tower who died July 1, 1987. Maru was born September 24, 1925 in Columbia Cross Roads, PA, the daughter of the late Clayton and Emily Honeywell Matteson. She was a graduate of Troy High School and St. Joseph's School of Nursing, Elmira, NY. Maru was a retired registered nurse, having worked for Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital and Broad Acres Nursing Home. She was a member of and very involved in the life of the Niles Valley Methodist Church. She was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed playing cards and Bingo with her Pinnacle Towers friends. Surviving are daughter, Wynnette Richardson, Wellsboro; son and daughter-in-law, William and Debbie Tower, Wellsboro; brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl and Phyllis Matteson, Endicott, NY, and Gerald and Sally Matteson, Lady Lake, FL; four grandchildren, two step grandchildren, two great-granddaughters, two step great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Kyle Richardson. Friends and family are invited to Maru's Life Celebration on Monday, July 21, 2008, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, a "Life Celebration Home", 139 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA. Funeral Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. with Kristi Webster of Niles Valley, and Maru's grandson, Brad Tower, officiating. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery, Troy, PA.
