J. Davies Obituary
Age 60, of Horseheads, NY, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, August 5, 2008. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Friday, August 15th, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held in his memory on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Ralph is survived by his wife, Kristine; three daughters, Robin (Scott) Copey of Hilton, NY, Jamie (Jeffrey) Van Zile of Odessa, and Carys Davies of Elmira; mother, Beatrice Rose Davies of Norfolk, England; sister, Rosemarie (John) Chandler of Norfolk, England; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sally and Terry Brown of Horseheads, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David and Pixie Porter, of Allegany, NY, and Donald and Sandra Jensen, of Newnan, Georgia; grandchildren, Owen and Sean Copey and Aidan and Chandler Van Zile; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Wm. Frederick Davies and brother-in-law, Richard Porter. Ralph was born and raised in Chirk, North Wales, and worked as a sheep and dairy farmer in Pen-y-cae, NW. He married his wife Kristine on August 14, 1971; and would have celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary in the coming week. Ralph worked for NYSEG for 30 years and was an elected Town of Veteran board member. He will be fondly remembered as an outdoorsman that always enjoyed being outdoors, and also hunting. What a sweet,kind and gentle man. I am honored to have known him. Although the shock and saddness of not seeing him is painfull, I am comforted in knowing that Heaven is welcoming one of their own.
