Marjorie Spencer Obituary
45, of Ahwatukee, AZ, previously of Horseheads, NY, passed away August 5, 2008. Marj was born July 27, 1963 in Cooperstown, NY to Naomi and Sam Markle. After graduating from Horseheads High School, she received her BS in accounting from SUNY Fredonia in 1985 and earned her CPA in 1986. Marj was Chief Financial Officer of the law firm of Gallagher and Kennedy. She was devoted to her family and friends and volunteered in many church-related activities. Marj was beloved by all who knew her and is survived by her sons, Timothy Stephen Markle and Joshua Dillon Spencer; her mother, Naomi; her brothers, Stephen Paul (Patricia) Markle of Alexandria, Virginia and Timothy Charles (Lisa) Markle of Jacksonville, Florida. She is preceded in death by her father, Sam Markle. A memorial service was held August 12 at the Arizona Community Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Young Life, 127 West Juanita Ave., Suite 216, Mesa, AZ 85210, in memory of Marjorie L. Spencer. She was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt and cousin, and will be eternally missed by all who knew and loved her.

Marj was a great friend to me, and I am grateful of the time I got to spend with her. When I think back to those times, I will do so fondly. One of my favorite memories of Marj was her 'Round of applause' at our 3:00 department meetings. I loved that and it always made me laugh. Losing her is, without saying, heartbreaking. My warmest thoughts go out to her family.

Tim, Joshua and the Markle Family:

To the Markle family, Tim and Josh: Words can't capture how much Marj meant to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. I have been blessed by her friendship for many years through Gallagher & Kennedy. She was my sister in Christ - we shared the love of our families and our faith, and we enjoyed many Bible studies together. Tim and Joshua, and the Markle family,
As the devastating news reached me, my mind flashed to Marj’s face and that fabulous smile. It wasn’t hard to make Marj smile, but when you did – she beamed. I met Marj just about 10 years ago when I started working at Gallagher & Kennedy. Her second family for 15 years. But make no mistake – her own family made her happiest and proud. She loved being a mother.
She was kind, and had the respect of everyone who came into contact with her. She had a delicate look to her but she was someone who could hold her ground. She led her department as she seemed to lead her life - with compassion, kindness, a fabulous attitude, intelligence and a sense of humor. I don’t believe I ever heard Marj get angry even though I’m sure we gave her lots of reasons to be angry. She could easily be both a professional and a friend (which is a wonderful thing to accomplish). And I loved her goofy side.
I know we will remember Marj in our own ways every day. We will cherish every moment we had with her. I believe, as she did in life, she will be guiding her boys forever and a day.
Marj was one of the finest women I know and she will be terribly missed. Thank you for sharing her with us.

I am a friend, former co-worker, and Bible Study partner of Marj's, and am profoundly saddened by the news of her death. There are few in this world that are as kind, caring, and giving as Marj, and we are all changed by the loss of her continued presence in our daily lives. There are so many fond memories I will have remembering Marjorie teaching the Bible Stories in Awana, bring the felt characters to life in her own special way, serving at St. Vincent de Paul's, and cooking "thousands" of hot dogs for the Fall Festival at our church.
